Aloe vera gel

We often use the gel straight from aloe vera leaves on burns or cuts and grazes, and it really helps to heal and reduce infection. Just cut off a leaf, and squeeze out the clear gel from inside.

It can get a bit gooey and sticky though, so we tried this recipe for Aloe Vera Gel, which is kept in the fridge and available to use any time. So far it has helped soothe the itch from insect bites and irritated skin. It has an ‘odd’ texture- the gooeyness of the aloe gel is still there, and the coconut oil tends to solidify in the fridge. When it is rubbed in the hands though the coconut oil quickly liquifies and is easy to rub on to wherever it is needed!

We used the Thermomix to mix it all together quite successfully, and added Vitamin E which the recipe stated would help preserve it for longer.
