Winter in Perth has been quite mild this year, especially in August when we had warm, sunny days. We have had a few overnight and early morning frosts though, even the bird baths iced over!

We are still working through our bountiful pumpkin harvest, making delicious Pumpkin Baba Ganoush and plenty of pumpkin soup for the freezer.

Our ginger harvest was fairly small this year, but still gave us enough to shred and store in the freezer for later use.

And finally……after months and months…….. really truly………. the hens are finally laying! We love our heritage breeds, particularly the Australorps, but they take such a long time to mature and start laying! But, finally, we have enough eggs to eat and to pickle, and even give some away to family.
